| Home to Texas A&M University, the third-largest college in the country and host of the George Bush Presidential Library. The town of Millican was founded by Robert Hemphill Millican, who was one of Stephen F. Austins "Old Three-Hundred" colonists.
General James "Earl" Rudder, who would later become President of Texas A&M University, was one of the most decorated heroes of World War II. He led his troops, known as Rudders Rangers, in a key assault on Pointe du Hoc on D-Day, scaling 100-foot cliffs and destroying German gun batteries. |
