Who says government agencies can’t work together to get things done for the health of our community?
The city of Waco, its parks and recreation department, U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, have secured the plans and the funds to build a $4.6 million hike and bike trail and park south of West U.S. Highway 84, west of Waco.

MERIDIAN — Rep. Chet Edwards visited Meridian on Saturday to salute the completion of the Meridian-Clifton water pipeline.
“This is a great example of cities and people working together for the future,” said Edwards. “For Meridian it means an adequate water supply for the future and for Clifton it means some revenue to help support the reservoir,” he added.

Funding for the final stage of renovations to Hamm Creek Park, included in 2010 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill, passed the U.S. House on Thursday by a 308-114 vote.
U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, said he secured $543,000 in funding for the project in the bill. Edwards serves as vice chairman of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee and was a member of the House-Senate conference committee that wrote the bill. Edwards said he expects the bill to pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Obama.

Elected leaders like to boast of cutting red tape, but it was a ceremonial green ribbon the scissors were slicing Wednesday as U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards and other dignitaries unveiled a fleet of 13 new buses at the Brazos Transit Terminal.
